BUILDER & DESIGNER: Gerald Stevens, Chester, N.S.
CONSTRUCTION: 1 1/8” southern African mahogany hull planking on 2”X3” white oak frames on 8” centers; mahogany over oak framed deckhouses; fiberglass over plywood side decks and coach roofs; teak overlay in the cockpit. The hull is painted white with a blue boottop and cove stripe; red bottom paint; white decks, blue painted and mahogany, finished bright, deck trim. Long skeg keel; 2 stainless steel rudders; hydraulic steering; stainless steel bow pulpit rail with substantial single lifelines; there is a mahogany cap, finished bright, on the lifelines around the cockpit; there are two hatches; 6 opening ports; a large self-bailing cockpit with awning over it; mahogany transom and transom door finished bright; swim platform. ACCOMMODATIONS: The yacht has berths for 6 and 6'8” headroom.
Boarding this yacht from the stern, through the mahogany transom door, one is impressed by the large, self-bailing, teak soled cockpit which measures about 12' X 12' . There are fitted bench seats across the stern, with a passage for the transom door, and up either side of the cockpit with cushions and rain covers. The current owner has also fitted a large awning that covers the cockpit. Walking through mahogany double doors, also finished bright, one enters the large main cabin; which is at the same elevation as the cockpit. The main cabin has a roomy galley aft to port, helm forward to port, a chart table large enough to lay out an unfolded chart is forward to starboard, with chart drawers under. Aft to starboard is an 'L' shaped settee. Together the cockpit and main cabin provide an open space on one level that measures about 12' X 25'. Three steps down one enters the principle stateroom which has large settee berths port and starboard with seat-backs that can be raised to make upper berths if desired.
The foc'sil has painted bulkheads and trim; the stateroom has earth-tone wall coverings on the bulkheads with solid mahogany trim, finished bright, mahogany panel doors and an abundance of mahogany drawers and lockers. The upholstery in the stateroom is an earth-tone tweed type fabric; there is a carpeted cabin sole. The main cabin is largely fitted with built-in furnishing of mahogany finished bright. There is also a carpeted sole, earth-tone draperies and sage green upholstery on the 'L' shaped settee aft. The deck-heads throughout the yacht show the nicely finished and painted deck carlines with mahogany caps, again, finished bright. The galley has a microwave oven, 3 burner Princess 110 volt electric stove with oven, refrigerator with freezer section (12 & 110 volt); there is an ice-maker installed under the chart table and a 4.5 cubic foot freezer installed under the cockpit sole. The galley also has a stainless steel sink and plenty of counter and locker space.
The yacht has hot and cold pressure water servicing the head and the galley. Hot water is produced by a 110 volt hot-water heater. The fresh water capacity is about 150 gallons in three fiberglass tanks. The yacht has an Espar hot-air furnace plus Cruise-Aire reverse-cycle (heat and cooling) air-conditioning (two units). ENGINES: Twin 1974 GM 6-V-53 (2 cycle) inboard diesel engines; 197 HP each; fresh water cooling (heat exchangers); the engines were removed and rebuilt in 2002; hour meters showing 2,735 operating hours since new, of which about 400 would be on the engines since the rebuilding. The yacht cruises at about 10 kts. and has a top speed of about 14 kts. ; 4,000 ltr. (880 Imp. Gallon) fuel capacity in two stainless steel tanks, giving a range of about 650 miles at cruising speed. The engines are fitted with a Glendinning automatic engine synchronizer; trim tabs and bilge blower. The yacht a 2” stainless steel shafts turning 25” X 24” three bladed propellers; the shafts have 'Spurs' line cutters and 'Vee' struts with skegs that extend below the propellers. There is an automatic Co2 fire suppression system supplied by 100 lb. tank protecting both the engine and tank rooms.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS: The yacht has both 12 & 110 volt electrical systems. The 110 volt system is supplied by either shore-power connection (50', 30 amp cord included), an 8 kw. Westerbeke diesel generator or by a 3,500 watt inverter. The 12 volt system is supplied by 200 amp/hr. alternators on the main engines or by a 'Constavolt' charger from 110 volt power. There are a total of 6 batteries in two banks: house system and engine starting systems. The yacht has been fitted with Bass circuit breaker panels with digital displays; a full compliment of cabin, navigation and courtesy lights; lightning grounding system. ELECTRONICS:
GENERAL: Danforth 85# and a Yachtsmen's 100# anchors; 1-200' chain rode; 1-150' nylon line rode; Simpson Lawrence vertical anchor windless with remote control (at the helm); anchor handling platform at the bow with anchor rollers; 2- heated clear-view screens; 1 windshield wiper; 8' Achilles (Hypalon) inflatable dinghy; 6 man zodiac canister life raft; timber cradle; Docklines; fenders; fender board; boat hook; 6 fire extinguishers; 10 life preservers; 2 life rings; search light; rope swim ladder; screens; clock; barometer; barbeque; dishes & cutlery; engine & equipment manuals. PARTICULARS AS SUPPLIED BY THE OWNER ARE BELIEVED TO BE CORRECT BUT ARE NOT WARRANTED. BROKER'S COMMENT: This custom yacht was built and maintained virtually without regard to cost by a prominent Nova Scotia businessman and philanthropist. It is now for sale by the second owner who owns the service company that maintained the boat for the original owner. Designed for entertaining, it has a vast amount of space between the cockpit and the main cabin, all on one level. In 2003 she had Home Trade III Coast Guard certification for use as a commercial tour boat. This is a serious and powerful boat that would be ideal as a live-a-board.
