AH SUMMER!The weather this year on much of the east coast has been better than average. This along with continuing low interest rates and a strong Canadian economy has made this season an especially active one in the boat business. Its all about price: if your boat is still for sale you have to have a hard look at your asking price. The on-going strength of the Canadian dollar, although volatile, continues to make buying boats in the US very attractive; particularly as that market is weaker than our own. However, many of the 'steals' have been bought-up and high quality boats are holding their value there. Boats listed here though, have to have asking prices that are competitive with comparable US boats or they will get passed-by. A qualified broker can help you navigate the realities of the market-place. Condition and equipment are not insignificant in determining market-value. But ultimately it is the ability of a boat to pass survey that is critical. Buyers and insurers are more particular than ever. Knowing your boat and addressing any of her 'issues' is an important part of maintaining your investment, keeping your family and friends safe and enhancing your comfort and enjoyment.
